I'm looking for an electronics engineer who can help in designing a circuit and parts list for me for a battery charger/conditioner.
MVP Requirements:
The charge controller needs to run a sequence when a battery is connected. This sequence should look as follows:
- Cycle discharge->charge battery (Bonus: be able to choose # of cycles)
- Record discharge capacity, compare against nominal/rated capacity
- If discharge capacity is 80% or more than nominal capacity
- Then cycle discharge->charge battery 2 more times for good measure
- Record last discharge capacity
- Else put 15A input current on battery (1 sec duration, 5x times)
- Cycle battery another 3 times
- Check if capacity has increased (80% or more of nominal), if not repeat 15A load another 3 times
- Display/log last discharge capacity
In short:
- Cycle the battery
- Zap it with high current a few times if bad
- Cycle again
- Display status/results on an OLED display
Bonus/Future Improvements:
- Connect via USB and log data to file
- Automatically determine nominal voltage of connected battery cell/pack
- Temperature check to avoid battery cell overheating
My budget for parts is $100 for the initial MVP. Just looking to get it to work at this point.
