We switched to a new URL 4 months ago. 80% loss of traffic resulted.
I have two seasoned SEOs who are unable to help determine what went wrong.
We changed the following all
-- URL
-- Site structure (new content categories / organization)
-- Design / menu
Google didn't seem to let go of the original URL forever... and when tehy finally did (we got rid of mentions of the original URL, and we switched the original URL [[just a bunch of redirects] off of WPEngine and over to AWS), we lost even MORE traffic. The 'juice' is not passing.
Old and new sites both on Wordpress.
Here's another huge issue:
None of our content is showing up in Google!
-- Go to our self-driving cars article, copy 1 paragraph of text from the article, and search for it in quotes in Google. Example: 'With billions of dollars in R&D and acquisitions, there's plenty of fodder for media hype in machine learning, but there haven't been many concerted efforts to bring together the facts and answer fundamental questions, such as:'
-- Go to any of our old content, and try the same thing
-- Go to any NEW articles (last 4 months), and try the same thing
-- Do this with any of our articles
-- NONE OF THE ARTICLE TEXT IS LISTED WITh GOOGLE!
We're looking for an extremely seasoned SEO / migration expert to help us develop a plan to recoup our traffic ASAP and diagnose this issue immediately. We're looking to work with the best of the best
