About Resource Central
We are Resource Central thirty people in Boulder determined to make conservation so simple that you don't even realize you're doing it. We're an innovative nonprofit with programs that help people save water, reduce waste, and conserve energy. Formerly known as the Center for ReSource Conservation, our new name reflects how we've become a community hub for high-impact conservation programs, helping nearly 500,000 families improve their homes, conserve natural resources, and save money. And we're just getting started.
Introduction
Resource Central, through a variety of popular conservation programs and in partnership with over 30 municipalities, helps homeowners across the Front Range learn about and practice water conservation and sustainable landscaping. With a goal of conserving one billion gallons of water by the year 2020, Resource Central is at the forefront of empowering Colorado residents to use less water through our assortment of approachable, practical, and fun program offerings. Over the last 3 years, Resource Central has been focusing on helping individuals remove a portion of their lawn and replace it with water wise landscaping, also known as turf removal. These new landscapes are great for curb appeal, the local ecosystem and use on average 50% less water than a traditional lawn.
Although there are hundreds of turf removal projects happening across the state every year, as a movement, lawn removal it is in its infancy. Water wise landscapes are still seen as non-traditional and the exception in neighborhoods in Colorado. Resource Central has a goal of changing that through its dual priorities of making these projects easier and more accessible for homeowners as well as facilitating social change in which participants feel part of a larger movement when completing their individual projects.
Project Goals and Scope of Services
In 2019, Resource Central received a grant to create a central web hub for the turf removal movement in Colorado, providing inspiration and resources to homeowners looking at undertaking a yard transformation. The site will allow homeowners to register their project and upload before and after pictures. All entries will then be sortable and easily accessed for idea generation, inspiration, and education for others. There will also be an area for local resources sorted by community. Our vision for the site is highly visual, utilizing images and video to provide testimonials, and is geared toward inspiring action through the use of social marketing.
Project includes creating a fully functional website with the following deliverables
1. Highly impactful, visually appealing web design that reflects project goals of inspiring action and is aligned with Resource Central branding guidelines.
2. Portal for homeowners to upload pictures and share information about their project. Key information includes: address, cost, time commitment, area of yard, exposure, slope, other distinguishing features, etc
3. Homeowner profiles that may include video, photography, testimonials etc

5. Searchable list of resources by community
