image editing for several hundred pictures

This project is cropping, cleaning up and adding text to several hundred pictures. I need the text below the picture, not on top or within the picture in any way. I currently have photoshop elements 13 and am somewhat familiar with it. My preference would be for someone to teach me how to accomplish my project, but am also open to handing over the project if it is beyond my capabilities or time frame. All of the photos have been digitized (scanned) or are digital to start with. This is a project for my aging mother comprising family photos.
