What I think Im after is trying to replace multiple potentiometers on an analog device by extending them into a single plug... from there it plugs into a separate LED/LCD touch screen that has knobs that act like a potentiometers but show a digital display on the LED/LCD screen. I assume a digipot would need to be used.

Id like to be able to save pre-sets on the touch screen so when I plug the analog device back in it recognizes it and remembers the presets for it. The knobs attach to the touch screen can scroll indefinitely but act as potentiometers for the analog device that is removable.

Sorry that I dont know the terminology. I hope my description gets the idea across. Thanks!
