Need assistance with effervescent nutritional formulation

We are developing an effervescent formulation, but cant use the common sodium, potassium, or magnesium carbonate for the fizzing agent because it is too alkaline. Is there any effervescent ingredient that will fizz when dropped in water that is more acidic? The product is a tablet that will be dropped in water to dissolve before consumption.
