Install a PHP application on my hosting package (HostGator.com)

I need someone to login to my webhosting and verify that the backend is able to run the application. I uploaded all the files but I receive and Internal Server 500 error. The package is ResourceSpace, an open-source Digital Media Asset Management software, and my hosting is through Hostgator.com. I am not experienced enough to troubleshoot. I have already created a new database, and uploaded the files, but it probably involves the correct file permissions and making sure that the PHP version on the backend is compatible.
