Systems/Network Administrator and Engineer for Managed Services Provider (MSP)

We are a growing IT Services Provider (ISP) and IT outsourcing firm in the Portland, OR metro area. We are looking for highly skilled and experienced systems/network administrators and engineers with strong Windows, Network, Security and Virtualization experience to join our team and support our continued growth in the local market.

Candidates in this role will be responsible for the management, configuration, administration and documentation of client networks and environments, handling or providing guidance and assistance on more complex issues or administrative tasks escalated from our help desk, service and NOC teams, as well as executing and implementing both internal and client-facing projects and implementations. In addition, candidates should be able to leverage their expertise to routinely audit, identify and recommend areas of ongoing improvement with regards to network configuration, security, automation, etc.

We are looking for candidates who have the following skills:

* Strong experience with installing, configuring, administering and supporting a Windows Server environment
* Strong experience with installing, configuring, administering and supporting Microsoft Server products and technologies such as Active Directory, Exchange Server and SQL Server
* Strong experience with installing, configuring, administering and supporting network devices such as routers, switches (L2/L3), firewalls and wireless in both simple SMB and more complex corporate network environments
* Strong experience with network security implementation and management, such as firewalls/UTM, remote access, site to site VPN, etc.
* Strong experience with installing, configuring and/or administering virtualization such as VMware and Hyper-V, particularly in high availability/clustered environments
* Experience in implementing and/or administering private and hybrid cloud environments consisting or a mix of on-premise and cloud assets located with cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or others
* Strong experience with installing, configuring and administering backup and disaster recovery solutions (e.g. Veeam, Storagecraft, Acronis, Datto, etc. - Acronis preferred)
* Experience with Cloud and SaaS Services such as Office 365, etc.

Bonus points and preference if you have any of the following:

* Advanced vendor certifications from Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, etc., particularly, CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, VCP etc.
* Industry certifications and demonstrated strength in network and information security (CISSP, EC-Council, etc.)
* Demonstrated strength and skill with scripting, command-line, and automation, particularly with Microsoft PowerShell in a Microsoft environment
* Previous experience working in a Managed Service Provider environment, particularly with MSP tools including ConnectWise.
* Ability to work during United States PST business hours

* Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and synthesize a wide variety of technologies across diverse customer environments.
* Be able to make recommendations and/or perform support or configuration given potentially less-than-adequate requirements (read: from an end user or non-technical user)

In addition to your technical abilities, candidates will be required to do the following:

* Work out of our PSA and IT documentation platform, and document work and time in our ticketing and PSA system according to our documented policies and procedures
* Create and update documentation related to client networks and systems in our IT documentation system - configuration details, KB, How-To, etc.
* Be responsible and perform work in a timely fashion and be able to deliver on tasks, issues and project work according to reasonable deadlines and without micro management

This is currently a part-time, contract position in which youll be required to carry your own errors and omissions business insurance. This is a great opportunity for candidates who are currently working on other projects and/or in other positions, but who still have reasonable part-time availability (potentially even up to 20 hours/week) to commit. Depending on growth, this could also evolve into one or more full-time positions moving forward.
