WCAG Accessibility Consultant for eLearning Course Development

Were looking for an expert in accessibility to act in the capacity of a true consult to a learning-solutions company developing a WCAG 2.0 Level AA compliant online course. In this role, you will guide a project team consisting of instructional designers, graphic designers, technical developers, and project managers and help guarantee that interim and final deliverables associated with the development of an online training course comply with WCAG 2.0 standards.

We are taking the long view and would like you to set us up for success on future WCAG compliant efforts. Below is what we think we need, but we understand a true expert will likely see gaps in what were asking for and expand our understanding.

>>Key Responsibilities<<
Consulting
>Perform accessibility evaluations of all project deliverables including storyboards, graphics, PDFs, and alpha and beta versions of the online course.
>Guide team members to implement appropriate accessibility features across all deliverables.
>Establish and document accessibility standards for the project.

Training
>Develop and implement formal/informal/just-in-time training for team members in designing for WCAG compliance on an as-needed basis.
>Act as a resource for team members also on an as-needed basis.

Design and Production
>Provide accessible templates and tools, if appropriate.
>Oversee resources for captioning videos published in the online course, if needed.
>Provide tools for monitoring accessibility as needed.
>Author descriptions (or train a team member to do this) of course navigation, graphics, and other types of materials within the course to ensure they are compatible with accessibility tools

>>Skills & Knowledge<<
>Extensive knowledge and experience with WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards and guidelines.
>Knowledge of disability law including but not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (Section 504).
>Experience with accessibility audit and quality assurance tools and processes.
>Strong organizational skills.
>Effective communication skills.
>Knowledge of the following tools and technologies on a sufficient level to review and consult on the work done by our development team:
>Web technologies (HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Xml, and Web content management systems).
>eLearning authoring software (Storyline, Lectora, etc.).
>Assistive technologies (JAWS, VoiceOver, Dragon NaturallySpeaking).

>>Experience<<
>Proven experiences of having client organizations accepting/signing off on products for which you oversaw WCAG 2.0 accessibility compliance.
>Experience working effectively as part of highly collaborative, team-oriented environments in which you were formally a peer and not an authority.
>Experience reviewing and consulting on the work done by a team of writers or instructional designers, designers and developers to ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
>Experience in adult learning and/or training and development preferable.
>Experience on accessibility projects in the job role designer or developer (i.e., youve done the work in addition to acting as a consultant) a plus.
