Need Help Set Up Website

Last year I purchased a domain name and began trying to set up a website on my own. The point of the website is two-fold:
1. To be a reference for all things related to Google Sheets. A detailed, and easy to look at/understand explanation of each formula, and later even Google Apps Script methods as well.
2. To provide paid courses on the website about Google Sheets and its usefulness to small business, data analysis, dashboard creation, etc.

I would also like to leave a page that would advertise my freelance services (Google Sheets work), but this would not be the focus of the website.

So here is my problem:
1. I purchased Elementor Pro in order to set up the website, but since I do not have the expertise, it has been very slow progress.
2. I am not convinced that the design of the website is really what I want to see. So I would like to see other new ideas as to color combinations/page layouts that may be better.
3. The website is unbelievably slow. I dont know enough about website maintenance to get it to be faster. I limited the amount of add-ins that I used, but even with that it takes it a while to load each page. It also seems to be getting slower with the amount of pages that I am creating.
4. I need to have my SSL certificate set up, since it shows very obviously that the website is not secure.

Other info:
- It is a Wordpress based website.
- It is hosted on HostGator
