The wages need not be paid in advance and can be paid after the work. I prefer wages on a hourly basis. Helps me keep motivated.

All the clauses and conditions for the job should be discussed beforehand and no criteria should be added after the work has started.

The pay ment should be paid as soon as the jobs ends or should be paid on time if it is based on a hourly system.
