Here is the task description for status monitoring on the Raspberry Pi:
We have a USB-connected professional photo printer connected to the Raspberry Pi which uses CUPS to communicate to an iPad over WiFi so that AirPrint works.
We need to launch a thread from within the printer's CUPS filter to read the printer status from the USB back-end and use that data to set printing settings used by the filter (using Host Printer Engine - HPE), report status for media and errors. A lot of the code is written and works for a very similar printer within our Mac Driver, but we need this code ported to Raspian with some modifications for the specific printer.
The code base is in C++ (some straight C) running on Raspian Linux. We are hoping to get a developer working on this project ASAP.
