Task: fix a probably trivial problem at AWS which is stopping us from hosting a Shiny web app at Amazon AWS.
We have a relatively complex Shiny app which runs fine locally, and we want it to be available publicly. We have used an AMI to install Shiny Server and RStudio Server at Amazon EC2. The app runs fine in the remote RStudio. The app also seems to work when run in the remote RStudio terminal as the default user, though there is no UI. The sample apps provided in the AMI which are located each in their own subfolders of shinyApps on the server work fine and are accessible publicly.
However our app, which is located in its own subfolder, fails with the error 'The application exited during initialization.' when accessed publicly.
We have used renv to install standard versions of the required packages.
We assume that this is a relatively trivial problem perhaps to do with /etc/shiny-server/shiny-server.conf.
It is quite a complex app in terms of code but not so much in terms of technologies. At the moment there are no live users, we are in pre-alpha.
The code is on github.
We are also potentially VERY interested in a longer-term collaboration, working on these kinds of tasks.
We have set a fixed price of $60 but will pay more if the solution is in fact more complicated than we now think.
