Our (almost) single-page website was originally implemented in WordPress. (In addition to the main page, it has some all-text legal pages.) After we realized that WordPress was overkill, we had someone 'convert' it to HTML. While editing the HTML today, I realized that it's really quite bloated, even though it should be very simple.
Some of the obvious issues:
1. The navbar depends on JQuery, Bootstrap, and an external library, just so it can replicate ordinary 'hamburger menu' behavior.
2. The contact form still depends on a WordPress plugin (Contact Form 7), even though all it does is submit the darned form.
3. The main CSS is thousands of lines long, plus several more CSS files for the various dependencies.
4. The HTML is so deeply nested that it's almost impossible to tweak anything.
5. The site loads numerous fonts, even though it doesn't use most of them.
I'm looking for someone to take the existing design and replicate it much more simply. Everything should stay the same visually, but without all the crap. My main goal is maintainability, but faster loads would also be nice.
