I am setting up a Single Member LLC in Tennessee, and I need guidance on how to incorporate properly so as to avoid franchise and excise tax. I would like to find someone who can help incorporate the business properly, and then continue to be a resource for taxes and other business advice as necessary. Ideally this person would have some experience with both Tennessee SMLLC tax filings and remote work businesses. Here are a few key points.
- I will be working remotely and not based in Tennessee, but I need to incorporate there due to the nature of my business.
- I will use a registered agent as well as a 'virtual' address for my business formation
- I will be working as a consultant on a 1099 with a company in Hawaii.
- I will be living in an RV so I am going to establish domicile in Texas so as to not pay state taxes.
I am looking to form the LLC in the next week or so, but based on my research it appears that depending on how I incorporate the business I may be liable to pay the F&E state tax in Tennessee. I want to avoid this if at all possible.
