Book Runners is looking to hire a Senior Programmer/Project Manager. We are a startup textbook company that has experienced rapid growth over our first 2 years in business. Our revenue numbers have more than quadrupled since June 2017. We expanded from 2 employees to 19 full time employees over the last 18 months.
We specialize in wholesale & retail arbitrage opportunities. Our goal is to create a more modern, automated software that helps drive purchasing decisions, aggregates suppliers pricing data, and monitors inventory levels. A basic understanding of API calls and corresponding data integration will be a necessity. We've been building a version of our software in Ruby on Rails, so a deep Ruby understanding will be a necessity.
We have aspirations of utilizing some of the functionality of this software to create some public facing web pages that draw from the arbitrage idea. We just recently broke into the retail side of this business, so our own website where we can purchase/sell books is definitely on the horizon.
The position requires understanding business needs and translating them effectively into applications either individually or as part of a team. We aren't just looking for a programmer who can take a list of tasks and complete them, we are looking for an active participant in our business. Someone who is willing to learn how the company works and collaborate on ideas to help foster growth.
We have 2 other programmers on staff. We envision this new hire being in charge of the programming team, and we will rely on you heavily for project management. Thus, experiencing leading a team and organizing sprints will be a requirement.
