Data Visualization and Reporting: Data Heavy Presentation and supporting interactive report.

Annually we analyze the data associated with the workers compensation industry for California and produce a State of the System presentation that is made to a group of about 125 insurance executives at our annual conference in next month and also largely forms the basis of the supporting PPT/PDF interactive report that we share via our website. The intended audience for the interactive report is very broad and includes some stakeholders and policymakers that are at an executive level and may not have an in-depth knowledge of the workers compensation system or heavy analytical backgrounds.

We have a strong desire to improve the visualization of our data for this event to be more compelling as well as enable our data scientist/actuarial professionals to tell an impactful story with the data.

Our team of data scientist/actuarial professionals have worked primarily in PPT in delivering their data stories. They have largely relied on flat graphs in PPT with basic animation functionality. We want to move them to the next level of data storytelling with a combination of dynamic, visual and compelling data visualizations as well as some utilization of our current/standard PPT flat/animated graphs. In short, the presentation and supporting document to be hosted on our web site will not need each and every data set/results to be more compelling than our current/standard PPT flat/animated graphs.

A successful freelance partner would have the skills to meet with our data team/lead to ask the necessary questions about the story to be told, understand the audience, and review the data set or results and provide a recommendation on how best to move elements of our presentation and supporting document from flat PPT to that of a more interactive or dynamic presentation product.

We currently have our data within the Cognos environment but could move aspects to PowerBI (we dont have Tableau in our toolset).

The output would need to support live presentations via connected and non-connected systems as well as enable placement on our website for on-demand consumption. The difference in the products (presentation and the web-based on-demand document) can differ in their relative functionality with the expectations that the presentation product would be more dynamic/interactive and of higher overall production value.

We are on a quick turnaround to complete the project in one month.
