Rent-A-Nerd is seeking a Systems Administrator, also known as a Nerd. Rent-A-Nerd was established in 1997 and has a long history of providing excellent services to clients based in the Metro Vancouver region. Our diverse mix of professional and personal experience, certifications and training allow us to meet the needs of any Client ranging from public to private sectors and without regional limitations. In order to provide great service to our Clients, we are continually adding to our depth of knowledge through learning and recruiting those with different experiences.

About the Role:
You are primarily responsible for supporting our clients, working on various projects; contributing and optimizing proactive maintenance initiatives; performing in-depth technical assessments of clients networks; creating and maintaining excellent client documents; handling support escalations, and providing technical assistance and guidance to the Service Desk Team; performing upgrades to client networks.
What You Have:
- Bachelors degree in Technology, or post-secondary technical education
- Minimum 5 years experience in Systems Administration
- Holds at least one relevant industry certification(s) (i.e.: MCSA, CCNA)
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including listening skills
- Strong planning and organizing skills
- Exceptional client services skills
- Experience with the Microsoft stack of technologies
- Experience with business continuity & disaster recovery solutions
- Experience in networking including routing, VPNs, VLANs and security
- Ability to operate effectively in a team environment with both technical and non-technical team members with the ability to work at times with minimal supervision
- Effective time management skills and ability to set priorities and deadlines
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor under stress
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evening and weekend work when necessary
Nice to Have:
- Previous experience with a Managed Services Provider
- Knowledge of integrating Mac into a Windows environment
